TRY LEH ALLOWS CONSUMERS TO SAMPLE PRODUCTS THROUGH VENDING MACHINES AROUND SINGAPORE
  • Product Sampling Vending Machines Allow Brands to Showcase Products and Services for Customers to Select and Redeem at Their Convenience
  • Environmentally and Financially Sustainable, by Trying a Product Before Purchasing to Reduce Waste

SINGAPORE, Jan. 18, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Try Leh is proud to provide free sample vending machines in 5 mall locations around the island. Try Leh’s vending machines (or kiosks) allow brands to showcase up to 12 items per kiosk, in an easy-to see and understand vending machine concept, from which consumers may redeem samples that interest them. All a consumer needs to do is to create an account online, which gives them credit every week to use at Try Leh kiosks and redeem samples such as beauty products, pet food and vouchers for services.

Try Leh has made redemption easy with their no-typing redemption process. After registration, users are given sample credits which they will use to select the samples they want on the Try Leh website. Once they select their sample, the system will send a QR code to the consumer’s mobile phone in WhatsApp, Singapore’s most widely used messaging platform. They will scan this QR code at the kiosk and the sample will be dispensed. To prevent abuse, Try Leh currently limits sample redemptions to one product/brand (campaign) per consumer and up to 2 samples per week. Consumers are given 2 coins when they sign up, and will receive 2 new coins every Sunday as long as they are subscribed to the programme to redeem more samples. The coins cannot be carried forward to the next week and must be used before the next Sunday. 1 coin is currently equal to 1 sample. A campaign usually lasts for a month. Sample stock availability is updated online so the consumers can see if the sample they are trying to redeem is available and in stock before they go to the physical kiosk to redeem it.

Direct Use and Feedback, For Better Brand Recall and Sharing

The company hopes to promote what they call “Tryvertising”, advertisement through trying. No hard sell, just the actual product you will get, to see for yourself if it will suit your needs.

Tryvertising is a hybrid between marketing communication, advertising, and product promotion. It offers the perk of reaching the end-user directly. This is very different from other viral campaigns where an influencer or a celebrity will try a product and tell end-users about it.

When the end user can directly engage with the product – they get to give the brand direct and more authentic feedback. This allows brands to not only generate word-of-mouth but also get the user’s perspective on what improvements need to be made to it.

“Try Leh aims to work with the most user-conscious and generous brands in Singapore to help them reach the right consumers with a tangible sample that speaks to these brands’ quality itself. We’ve worked very hard to make these kiosks very straightforward to use for all age groups and to make the whole process very enjoyable for the consumers,” says Li Ling, Business Development Manager of Try Leh.

Try Leh goes beyond just the free sampling element, it offers consolidated packages that allow brands to reach customers naturally and without sounding imposing. WhatsApp marketing is part of the Try Leh package for advertisers and rides on the company’s core strength in SMS marketing.

A campaign usually lasts for a month. All availability data is updated online so the user can see if the sample they are trying to redeem is available and in stock before they go to the physical location to redeem it.

Virtual Kiosks to Launch In December

To cater to service-based brands and those with products that might not physically fit the size of a vending machine, Try Leh is launching a virtual vending machine in December 2022. Users will be able to redeem e-vouchers through the virtual vending machine with instructions on how to redeem the e-voucher.

This will eliminate the limitations of a physical kiosk as merchants and businesses can now make free samples possible for any kind of product and service. For example, a free haircut by a dresser or a beverage that is either hot or cold. Since the merchant chooses the location for redeeming the sample – the possibilities are endless.

Try Leh is offering five free packages worth $700 so brands can test the concept of tryvertising for their services and products. Campaign details can be found at sg.tryleh.com/contest
