Partnerships are with Shopee, Grab, Shell, Cold Storage and Esso.
Singapore-based telco startup Gorilla Mobile has partnered with Shopee, Grab, Shell, Cold Storage and Esso to enhance its SwitchBack feature, the company said in an announcement.
According to the company, this enables Gorilla Switch25 and Gorilla Switch45 users to convert unused mobile data for shopping e-vouchers via the Gorilla Mobile app.
Gorilla Mobile’s proprietary SwitchBack feature, powered by blockchain, enables users to fully ‘switch back’ unused mobile data to Gorilla GO tokens. Apart from e-vouchers, GO tokens can also be used to offset mobile bills, purchase or exchange for other in-app services such as travel roaming or IDD plans.
With Gorilla Mobile’s Universal Share and Unlimited Share, users can easily share any amount of unused mobile data with their friends and family, even on other telcos, said the company.
“Consumers today want to do more with their excess mobile data and gain more value from it. According to Infocomm Media Development Authority, the average monthly consumption of data per mobile user is about 6GB and mobile data plans in Singapore range from 13GB to 60GB per month. Therefore, most users end up with an excess of unused data and they are keen on innovative mobile services,”
“We want to support the needs of our users by ensuring that they have the option to manage the consumption and utilisation of their data in a smarter way, ultimately optimising their mobile data plans with real, tangible benefits. Through our partnership with strong consumer brands such as Shopee, Grab, Shell and Esso, we are able to provide our users with greater value for their excess and unused mobile data,” said Stuart Croft, Chief Marketing Officer, Gorilla Mobile.
